How to score 120+ marks in WBCS Prelims

Prelims is a skill. That’s why some people don’t get it even after exhausting all attempts- and why some people get in the first time, and continuously get high marks.
PRELIMS = KNOWLEDGE+ ACCURACY+PRACTICE.
Do you have some basic knowledge?
This step included to know your comfort level with the exam. If you are complete beginner to the entire WBCS exam then you might be wondering; Am I capable of clearing this exam? Of course, you are very much capable even if you don't have any basic knowledge. But having some basic knowledge will help you.
Do the most basic things first-- Revise basic books and Notes. The Basic includes – Studying all the standard texts and fundamental understanding of topics. Revise all the notes or materials at least one time before the exam.
Test series is more important than sitting in any coaching class. Practice as many as possible error free MCQs. Once you have cover a topic, refer the past Ten Years question papers on that topic. And if you find that you have left certain topics and not covered very well, again you can go in through that, so you can attempt Course Correction right at that time itself.
Now there are 2 ways by which you would have made your answers wrong –
knew it well, but marked it wrong – There is no excuse for this. If you are so negligent, you are out of the competition.
Had the idea, but couldn’t convert it to answer.
Read all the eight subjects, History carries 50 marks, emphasize more on it, Reasoning& aptitude and science will carry 50 marks, equal focus is necessary for all students of science and arts background . Article and amendments and important judgement of Supreme Court are vital in polity preparations. Read basics of economy including RBI, banking system and Five years planning, Taxation, Balance of Payments, Financial Institutions. Geography of West Bengal is another focus area. Read important current affairs but keep minimum expectations, as Current affairs questions are always unpredicatble. Focus on English basics like idioms, synonyms, antonyms, Prepositions, adjective, phrasal verb etc.
In first round attempt the questions in which you are confident; In the second round you may choose the question where you able to eliminate at least two options (as wrong), in this case probability of correctness becomes 50-50. Take calculated risk only.
You have to remember Year of establishment of certain organization, Who established that organization? What is important that while studying you have to memorize years of important events, organization, important acts.
Multiple revision + Memory improvement is the key of success.
The best way is recommend is to find out if you have a group who is equally serious, equally competent and dedicated to preparation. And working as a group you may not deviate too much from the required path as a consciences the group would be able to get you in the right direction.
