important for WBCS interview. Also, be familiar with the headlines and stories
of the newspapers on the interview day.
★ Revise your optional subject: WBCS interview panel may ask questions from
your optional subject on the interview day. Brush up recent happenings and
basics related to your optional subject.
★ Information related to Social, political, Enconomical, Environmental
happenings in your state and your Home town is crucial for interview. Read
any book related to West bengal which has indepth knowledge and views
regarding your state.Collect details about your birth place. Know the problems
in your village or city. Be prepared with solutions as well.
★ Service Preference and question like Why u want to join in Commercial Tax
officer, Or Deputy SP etc? Prepare well on your hobbies. Hobbies help the
interviewer to understand the personalities of candidates.
★ Revise your bio-data many times and prepare well for questions from areas
like hobbies, education, work experience, service-preference, Reason for
joining Civil Services, etc.

condensed into crisp, but interesting statements.
★ Don’t worry about matters – interview board, position, questions etc. – which
are beyond your control.
On the D day!!!
Dressings Funda!
Avoid wearing anything shiny, glossy or extra bright in the interview session. Wear
decent and modest attire. For gents, a light colored shirt and dark trousers should
give a professional appearance. A simple churidar or saree is recommended for
ladies.
Welcome to the Interview Room!!
Ask, May I come in Sir? Say Good Morning/Good afternoon to all of the members.
(Good morning sir/good morning Mam) with proper eye contacts. Do not sit in the
chair in the interview hall till you are asked to do so.

How to Behave or React during interview
★ Do not try to bluff them. Be straight and humble. Don’t try to present before
Interview board a fake personality. Present the real version of best you.
Answer with right expressions and right body language.
★ Interview should not be taken as a question-answer session. It is a friendly
conversation and healthy discussion but Be within your limit. Sometimes
WBCS Panel members ask questions which can be answered just by using
common sense. But the stress on the interview day may hamper your thinking
process. Realise that common sense is not common.
★ If you are not sure about the answer then tell them that “this is the
answer....but I’m not sure”. If you don’t know the answer, but you are guessing
then tell them that it’s a guess or ask for their permission to guess.
★ Whatever you say, say it confidently. Do not lie. (Even if you lie, do it
confidently!!). Everyone loves people with self-confidence. If you are sure
about your beliefs, answers or solutions, express them confidently. But at the
same time ensure that you don’t go overboard. Remember that the line
between self-confidence and arrogance is very narrow.
★ Smiling face is always desirable (it indicates you are not nervous).
★ Do not talk negative. Be optimistic. Show that you have constructive thinking.
★ You sometimes may not be knowing answers of many.Do not get excited. Keep
calm. Do not lose your patience. Your emotional intelligence matters.
★ Your views should be balanced and impartial. This does not mean that you
should not take a stand. Ideally, you should have stand – without any political
or social biases.
Leaving the Interview Hall(Alvida!!)
Do not leave the interview hall till you are asked to do so. After you are asked to
leave the hall do express thanks with a nice smile on your face.
