Borobudur, or Barabudur is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple. In Central Java,Indonesia. It is the world's largest Buddhist temple. It is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.These sculptures are all unique in that they depict the Buddha’s teachings, life, and personal wisdom. When taken all together, Borobudur can claim to have the largest amount of Buddhist sculptures of any single site in the world today.
Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty,The temple demonstrates the influences of Gupta art that reflects India's influence on the region. UNESCO designated Borobudur as a World Heritage Site in 1991 CE following a restoration in the 1970s and 1980s CE.
